Marie Jeanne Charbonneau, a French-Canadian, befriends Ricky Belisle, half-Serb, half-Scots-Irish, all mongrel. They live isolated on a land far away. But they don’t really. Strangers, carriers of dis-ease. come to town. Ricky and Marie Jeanne survive a Lake Superior storm gaining their first knowledge of good and evil.
